About Me

I am currently working as an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University. From July 2013 to June 2018, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at University College London (UCL), United Kingdom. I received my PhD degree in electrical and computer engineering from Curtin University, Australia, in 2013.

I am currently serving as an Associate Editor for IEEE Communications Letters, IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, IEEE Access and EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking (JWCN). I also served as the Lead Guest Editor of the special issue on Heterogeneous Cloud Radio Access Networks (H-CRANs) of EURASIP JWCN as well as the Managing Guest Editor of a special issue on Self-Optimizing Cognitive Radio Technologies of the Elsevier journal Physical Communication. I regularly serve in the Technical Program Committees (TPCs) of top international conferences (including IEEE Globecom, IEEE ICC, IEEE VTC, IEEE WCNC, EUSIPCO, and IEEE ISSPIT).

6G Wireless Systems

Will be characterized by AI, fluid cells, VLC, SDM, intelligent surfaces etc. and launched by 2030.

Machine Learning in Comms

Machine learning will play a dominant role in almost all areas of 6G, from device level to topology design.

UAV Communications

UAVs will form moving/fluid cells capable of dynamically adjusting their location and coverage.

Interference Exploitation

In ultra-dense networks, interference can be a valuable resource if properly exploited.

Physical Layer Security

Security in the physical layer will enable low-latency light-weight secure communications.

Convex Optimization

Plays important role in solving many resource allocation and spectrum management problems.
